The third SDG goal is health and well-being, which contains reducing premature deaths due to non-communicable diseases through prevention and treatment. Chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer are common causes of sudden death in the ASEAN region.
Several countries in the ASEAN region, such as Indonesia, have a fairly large diabetes population, which is said to be the seventh largest in the world. However, ASEAN is also one of the regions with the lowest number of premature deaths due to chronic diseases such as diabetes (IDF, 2021).
Wounds are the most common complication of chronic diseases increasing mortality among people with chronic diseases. Therefore, it is important for health care workers who specialize in wound care in the Southeast Asia region to meet and exchange ideas to help each other in providing quality health services. So that all countries in the region will be able to share the same level of quality of health services to achieve common SDG goals.
Additionally, post-COVID19 recovery goals require healthcare practitioners to enhance their knowledge and skills to remain relevant to address new challenges in healthcare now and in the future. The era of disruption after the pandemic is a reason for all of us to greet each other and open up new opportunities to collaborate for extraordinary success in the health sector.
The ASEAN Wound Summit activity, abbreviated as AWS, is an annual event which in 2022 Indonesia will be the host. AWS, which will be held for 3 days from 25 – 27 November 2022 at The Sultan Hotel Jakarta, carries the theme "Together, we can achieve better healthcare."

The 2022 ASEAN Wound Summit will be an opportunity for Health Workers to unite and collaborate, increase knowledge and skills in wound care, and present new perspectives from experience in wound care and prevention.
This activity was attended by health workers from across ASEAN with a total of 400 participants, 25 ASIA speakers and 30 Education Sessions for the Nursing Professional Education Study Program, Faculty of Nursing, Megarezky University and with Home Care Community Nursing Characteristics, also contributing, one of which passed as a Poster Presentation from 50 Abstracts that passed at the ASEAN level meeting.
The delegation from the Nursing Professional Education Study Program was represented by Syaiful, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep who presented a poster with the title "IMPLEMENTATION OF TIMERS MANAGEMENT ON DIABETES FOOT ULCER: HOME CARE SETTING".
TIMERS is a management method used as a method for wound care management in diabetic wounds that has been proven to be effective and has also been recognized internationally through the Consensus Document by JWC.
TIMERS. Tissue Management: How to remove/dispose of dead tissue in diabetes wounds. Inflammation and infection Control: Controlling Inflammation and Infection, Moisture Balance: Keeping Wounds Moist, Edge Epithelialization: Supporting Epithelial Tissue in Diabetic Wounds, Repair & Regenerations: Supporting the Formation of Healthy Tissue Diabetic Wounds and Social Factors: Quality of Life and Self-Motivation and family.
"This activity is very useful, because there is a lot of updated knowledge and exchange of information between ASEAN health workers, especially nurses, so that we can implement it for patients and especially our students' education regarding developments in wound care. We hope that next year's ASEAN WOUND SUMMIT event will be held at "In the Philippines in 2023, we will contribute again," said Syaiful.
