Megarezky University (Unimerz) received a visit from Ms. Carole Oh as Regional Director of Asia British Council English Score, in the Megarezky Polytechnic Meeting Room, last Thursday (8/12/2022).

The purpose of his visit was to see the implementation of English Score, which is a collaboration program between the Unimerz Language Institute and the British Council.

When confirmed by Unimerz Press Personnel, Hasnani, SS, M.Hum as Head of the Unimerz Language Institute said that the collaboration between Unimerz and the British Council had been going on since May.

"In May, the Megarezky Islamic Education Foundation (YPI) held a collaboration in Jakarta, namely English Score. And in June there was a decree that all Unimerz students who want to graduate must use an English language certificate. Because it is an international standard certificate. This is to improve the quality of prospective alumni. "Apart from that, there are also several accreditation points, namely improving foreign languages, one of which is by providing English language certificates," he said, Friday (9/12).

“So all study programs have to pass an English exam before they can graduate. So yesterday we were visited directly by Carole Oh as Regional Director Asia British Council. They want to see how the English Score is implemented at Unimerz. "Apart from that, they also want to stay in touch with us at Unimerz," he added.

Furthermore, he hopes that this collaboration can improve the quality of Megarezky University graduates.

"We hope that the results of this collaboration can further improve the quality of our graduates. So graduates can not only be scientific, but they can also have soft skills that they can sell outside. "Because there are no jobs now that don't speak English," he hoped.

Meanwhile, Vice Chancellor I Unimerz, Dr. NS. Julia Fitria Ningsih, S.Kep., M.Kes, M.Kep said that there is a need for internal policies to improve the English language learning process at Unimerz.

"This (English Score) is the alumni output at the end of graduation. But what is a challenge for us at Unimerz is the learning process. We have to make an internal policy, how the process of learning English can be maximized. Not only to students, but also to lecturers, administrators who create an English-speaking atmosphere so that it can become our habit. "So that we become a campus that exists and has competitiveness and can compete on an international scale," he said.

"We hope that in the future our graduates from Megarezky University will all have excellent foreign language competence and be able to compete wherever they are, they are competitive and they have SKPI. "We have graduated one class with an international standard English language certificate from the British Council which can be used to continue their studies or look for work," he hoped.

For information, also present at this activity were the Chancellor of Megarezky University, the Deputy Chancellors, the Deans and the Chairs and Secretaries of the Megarezky University Scope Study Program.
