The Student Activity Unit (UKM) Sports of Megarezky University (Unimerz) Makassar successfully held a Dialogue Bazaar, with the theme 'Gen Z Challenges Towards a Golden Indonesia', at Saoraja Café Baruga, on Thursday (29/9/2023).
This activity is a routine agenda which is carried out every new academic year to attract new students to join the Sports UKM whose members may come from all departments/study programs within Megarezky University.
In his statement, Irpan Afriansyah as chairman of the committee, said that this activity was an effective way to attract new members to join the student sports activity unit.
"Apart from being able to develop skills in various sports, you can also hone your skills in creating work programs such as dialogue bazaars that present various resource persons who are competent in their respective fields," he said.
It is known that this activity also presented Agus Ismail and Wahyu Munandar who are academics at Megarezky University as resource persons.
Question after question was asked by the participants which made the discussion interesting because the presenters responded directly. One of them is what challenges Gen Z faces and the solutions to a golden Indonesia.
"Young people who were born between 1997-2021 and aged 11-26 years in 2023 face a big challenge because Gen Z was born in a time of increasingly rapid technological growth where information can be easily accessed and there is a variety of social media. "What makes Gen Z able to have a very large number of friends from various regions to exchange information," answered Wahyu Munandar in response to questions from participants in the dialogue bazaar.
"This is of course an advantage for them because this convenience can be obtained only from smart phones which nowadays almost everyone has. But this is also a weakness of its users because it makes direct interaction and communication between individuals disappear so that the ability to communicate well, public speaking and understanding each other directly is lost because it is replaced by Gadgets," he added.
Meanwhile, another response was from Agus Ismail who said that the solution to answering future challenges is to improve the quality of human resources which can start from the world of education because this sector is the one that is substantial in all problems, namely how to improve the quality of accreditation of educational institutions, improving the quality of its educators so that they can produce academic outcomes that are in line with the expectations of the world of work.
"Another perspective that makes Gen Z have a high level of anxiety is that they are rarely honed by difficult conditions, very different from previous generations where to write a written work, for example a paper, they have to visit libraries to look for references to strengthen theory. in drawing a conclusion. The solution in responding to future challenges is to improve the quality of human resources which can start from the world of education because this sector is the substance of all the problems, namely how to improve the quality of accreditation of educational institutions, improve the quality of educators so that they can produce academic outcomes. which is in line with the expectations of the world of work," he explained.
"Apart from that, competence in each field is also a supporting factor and mastery of IT and foreign language skills are also very much needed in establishing communication with people from various countries. Enhancement Soft Skills has become very influential in responding to the increasingly difficult challenges of the world of work due to the increasing complexity of the problems faced due to the increasing world population. "This is a logical consequence that will be faced by Gen Z to answer the challenge of achieving a Golden Indonesia," he said.
