The Faculty of Health Technology (Fatelkes) of Megarezky University (Unimerz) held an expert lecture with the theme 'Labkesmas Goes to Campus Preparing Competent ATLM for TB Elimination in 2030', at Megarezky Hall, 5th Floor of Megarezky University, on Monday (18/3/2024) .

The study programs involved in the expert lecture are the D-IV Medical Laboratory Technology (TLM), D-III TLM, Bachelor of Biomedical Science and Bachelor of Bioinformatics study programs.

It is known that this activity aims to conduct expert lectures for the even semester of FY 2023/2024 to increase information and insight regarding TB elimination, especially for TLM students.

Also present at this expert lecture were the Dean of the Faculty of Health Technology; Prof. Dr. dra. Apt. Hj. Asnah Marzuki, M.Si, Head of TLM D-IV study program; Dr. Nirmawati Angria, S.Sc., M.Kes, Chair of the TLM D3 study program; Resi Agestia Waji, S.Si., M.Si, Lecturer at D4 TLM, D3 TLM, S1 Biomedicine, S1 Bioinformatics, Resource Person from BBLABKESMAS; Dr. Yoeke Dewi Rasita, Sp.MK., Med.Klinik and the Makassar city BBLABKESMAS Team.

In his presentation, dr. Yoeke Dewi Rasita, Sp.MK., Med.Klinik revealed that based on the SDGs, Indonesia would be TB free by 2030. In this way, he said, the Ministry of Health also issued a regulation that TB must be controlled, towards TB.

"Currently, the prevalence of TB in the world is 10.6 million, where Indonesia is the 2nd most TB sufferer in the world based on the 2022 Global TB Report. The flow of TB diagnosis is divided into new TB patients and patients with a history of treatment. Suspected patients undergo clinical examination and BTA microscopic examination or rapid molecular test (TCM). "This TCM can identify TB positive patients with MDR, SO and RO and others," he explained.

“TB elimination is included in the TLM learning curriculum. In establishing a diagnosis of a disease, it is necessary to pay attention to the pre-analytic, analytical and post-analytic stages. "The biggest error stage is in the pre-analytical stage, it can reach 60 %," he added.

Meanwhile, Dr. Nirmawati Angria, S.Sc., M.Kes as Head of the D-IV TLM Unimerz Study Program hopes that this expert lecture can be useful for lecturers and students to better understand the magnitude of the role as ATLM in the laboratory.

"This expert lecture activity is very useful for both lecturers and students to better understand the magnitude of our role as ATLM in the laboratory in helping to diagnose TB disease. "Helps the government in controlling TB disease to eliminate TB by 2030," he hoped.
