The D-III Medical Laboratory Technology (TLM) study program, Faculty of Health Technology, Megarezky University Makassar held community service activities, with the theme 'Improving the quality of public health through counseling and health checks' in Gantarang Village, Kelara District, Jeneponto Regency, on Thursday ( 3/16/2023).
There are several education issues provided to the public, including education about the dangers of smoking, anemia, prevention of worms, prevention of infections in pregnant women, sexually transmitted diseases, environmental sanitation and the dangers of drugs.
Apart from providing counseling, the TLM Unimerz D-III Study Program also provides the entire Gantarang Village community with the opportunity to carry out health checks such as checking water quality, blood pressure and blood glucose.
In his statement, Resi Agestia Waji, S.Si., M.Si as Chair of the TLM Unimerz D-III study program said that the targets of this community service were the local community and pregnant women.
"Our targets are pregnant women and the local community, especially those in Gantarang Village. "And we saw that during the activity, the community seemed very enthusiastic in participating in this activity, they were even active in asking questions," he said.
He further said that this community service activity was carried out by D-III TLM Unimerz as a form of application of the knowledge they had, especially in the health sector.
"It is through community service that lecturers have the opportunity to apply their knowledge directly. Starting with providing direction or outreach through health education so that the public knows about some of the material presented by the lecturer.
It is known that community service activities by TLM Unimerz DIII Study Program Lecturers have become a routine agenda carried out every semester as a form of implementing the Tri Dharma.
Also present at this activity were the Head of Gantarang Village and related officials, the Gantarang Village Community, as well as lecturers and D-III TLM students at Megarezky University.
